tour3

Hello everyone. I started these tours in May 2009. Previously no one was doing tours of St Ives. I started with St Ives Then and Now, a tour encompassing history and quirky stories about St Ives. It is going very well and I have had great feedback. This tour runs on Mondays and Fridays at 11am. It costs just £5 and starts outside the Tourist Information Centre/Guildhall at 11am. Just turn up!

I have met some lovely people from all over the world and am learning new things everyday myself.

I did an NVQ at Cornwall College which has been useful – mainly teaching me all the health and safety rules and regs! But I did enjoy going on other people’s tours and seeing different ways of doing things. Finding my style.

The ART TOUR! I started this in June 2009 and it runs on Thursdays same place same time. 11am. This is also at the bargain price of £5. This has smaller numbers which is good as I like to be able to tailor things to the group. St Ives has an amazing heritage of art and artists and I learn more all the time. We are so lucky with the wealth of art in the town both past and present. Do come on the tour or book me individually as I am told it really really helps to have someone bring everything to life.

Now the Tate………not everyone understands the art although pretty much everyone loves the building and if you are reading this don’t forget the cafe on the roof of the Tate which has the most amazing views and is not to be missed. You can go up there without paying entrance to the Tate. There is also a very interesting area outside the galleries where you can learn more and  the bookshop………great places to browse. Again accessible without paying entry to the galleries. But do go round the exhibition. Maybe go on one of the Tate’s own guided tours free with entry at 11.30 and 2.30 (double check those times!) Please also remember the Tate closes for rehangs. People do get so disappointed although normally you can still access the shop and cafe during that period.
